Reportage Of Events Of Afternoon :

It was all "hands on deck", at least, on shore, this afternoon for a group of fellow students,et al who asssisted Capt. Rie Hale in the completion of her maiden voyage the "Unititled" to

the London Metropolitan University. We met Capt. Hale at the Lime Street Basin and manually lifted the vessel out of the water and carried it shoulder high along Commercial Road, in the East End of London, to the main entrance of the University and, thereafter, straight up to the studio on the 3rd. Floor.

It was a victorious and glorious afternoon and the weather...just perfect!! With some stops along the way, notably the Marinner's Pub in Commercial Road, where we stopped for some light refreshments...wine and lagers all round,!! We resumed our journey singing loudly as many "sea-shantes" as we could remember..."Row,Row,RowThe Boat" perhaps being sung the most!!

It was really quite difficult to take the strain of the vessel's weight and to give justice and full-throated resonance to our singing renderings...but we managed in heroic-triumphant-style to crack-out a few songs with the greatest of gusto! Along the Commercial Road we caused quite a stir...and to the great delight of especially the few chaps we met along the way who yelled encouragements (usually from their car windows)..."you are going the wrong way to the canal" ..."where's the water darling?"..." and "go on love! the canal is just down the road",etc. (I pleaded with my fellow-students to make a quick sign and find a bucket in which to advertise our journey and "collect some money" for the good student cause along the way...but alas! this enterprising idea fell on deaf ears.)

With the vessel safely delivered to the London Metropolitan University "Fine Art Studio: Floor 3"...the crew retired to the local...the "Buck's Eyes"...or whatever it was called, and had a celebratory drink or two!!

The intrepid Capt. Hale set off this morning with her vessel tucked into a van. Capt. Hale was accompanied by her film director Dr. Franco. The vessel was taken to the canal nearest to Capt. Hale's home in Woodford Green,London.

After a strenuous 12 miles row by Capt. Hale she was met by her On-Shore-Crew at Lime Street Basin and together the vessel was carried to the University, successfully!! Hip-Hip-Hoorah!!

Thank-You! Capt. Hale for having me as a member of your On Shore Crew...it has been a pleasure!!

Play-Time...

Not to be accused of being high-brow-intellectuals, some of the Critical Practice Class demonstrated what takes place in the "Play-Time":

Just a little bit of rough and tumble!
A truly interactive piece of work...
Well Done! Play-Mates!

May Day Festival Apathy Workshop

Apathy Workshop with Bob &Roberta Smith,et al.

May Day Festival Art Protest

The day started with torrential rain and the thought that came to mind was "washout" and it was icy cold.
However, the gods smiled on us and the weather improved and there was warm sunshine ,only briefly, albeit with a gale force wind that would have knocked one over. Nothing daunting we carried on with our task in hand...to spread as much "apathy" as possible to the unsuspecting masses...regardless of the fact that we got some really weird looks!!
We pranced around banging on drums...ranting and raving like a pack of " nutters" and managed to create a semblance of apathy and near anarchy!! We shouted and heckled at anyone who appeared to be enjoying their day...or taking the May Day Festival too serious. We sang totally out of tune accompanied by our similar out of tune instruments and had a hell of a laugh...at our hell of a noise. We were eyeballed by the local constabulary...rather suspiciously and we were photographed by goodness knows whom?...and one wonders where these photos may turn up? (Julia and Gwen never trust your friends with a camera...you end up on bloggs...sorry.) Surprising what nonsense one can get up to if one is game for a laugh...it was a laugh and it was a game...and made me think of the performing clowns...no, not performing clowns...performing artists...yes! that's the word...performing artists.

Current exhibiton at the British Museum
by Romouald Hazoume.
Hazoume uses oil-cans, which are very plentiful in
his home-land,to depict the extreme and terrible
conditions endured by slaves in their transportation.
It is ghostly and very moving.

This exhibition commemorates the 200 year
